A mother in the state of Texas is now facing charges for her alleged actions involving leaving her child without supervision. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

When Did Police Learn Of The Situation?

According to KENS5, the Bexar County's Sheriff's Office posted on social media describing what happened:

Law enforcement were alerted to a 12 year old calling 911 on January 18th, 2025. According to the child, their mother hadn't come home after a long period. The mother, identified as Misty Dawn Lewis, purportedly told her children that she was going out to get a package.

However, Lewis didn't return, which led to the previously mentioned call to 911. Investigations began, and the time that the children were left home alone totaled over 10 hours. However, police soon located the mother.

How Did Police In Texas Find Misty Dawn Lewis?

During inquires, officers made a request to the children. They asked if the children could ping their mother's cell phone. The kids did so, and Lewis was located.

Upon finding the children's mother, officers noted that she seemed to inebriated, and the scent of alcohol was present as well. During the police's interview, Lewis allegedly told police she did indeed leave her kids alone at home. She was then taken into custody.

What Did Police Charge Misty Dawn Lewis With?

KENS5 revealed that Lewis was charged with abandoning or endangering a child and possession of a controlled substance. As this is developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
