Austin Store Sells $83.5M Texas Lottery Jackpot to Online Winner

Many in the state of Texas have big dreams. Some wish to be know by everybody, or start a very successful business. But those who are lucky want one thing: to win a big jackpot prize in the state's lottery.

How Big Have Jackpots Gotten In The State Of Texas?

As revealed by KXAN, the highest prize ever claimed by someone in the state was a staggering $400 million. Another amount of $360 million is the second biggest ever won in the Lone Star State. So there's always a chance you could walk away with life changing money.

For somebody in the city of Austin, a major amount of money was won recently. A large amount of $83.5 million has been won. But, some in the state are currently worried if it was actually won in Austin.

What Is The Issue With The Online Win?

Per KXAN, the win happened on an app called Jackpocket. This in turn made some believe that the ticket was bought outside of the state. KXAN spoke to Coalition of Texas Lottery Couriers and PR representative Travis Thomas:

“Verified adult players may only order lottery tickets in the state where they are physically located...For instance, a geo-location process would prohibit a Texan from using the platform to order a Texas Lottery ticket while traveling outside of the state.”

Where the ticket was bought exactly remains unknown. As stated by Steve Helms, TLC Media Relations Director:

“The agency is investigating this matter and cannot comment at this time...It is standard practice for the agency to conduct investigations of jackpot winners,” he later clarified."
