Many people in the state of Texas use the internet daily. Whatever the use may be, whether for work or for shopping, there's no telling how many times a person utilizes the web for something. But being online isn't always safe for a person in the state.
What Trouble Could One Get Into While Online In Texas?
The biggest thing one could end up in while surfing the web in Texas is that they could fall victim to a scam. Every scam wants one big thing: your personal information and money too. Sadly, many in the state fall victim to these frauds.
When a person is caught in one of these schemes, law enforcement is alerted and reports are filed about the situation in question. With this data, it can be determined what was lost and how much was taken overall. Thanks to the the Federal Bureau Of Investigation, we can see how hard Texas was harmed by online crimes.

What Did The FBI Say About Online Crimes In Texas?
Per KHOU, Texas will not like the reports from the organization. Overall data did show that $16 billion in funds was lost from individuals in the nation, from a total of 859,532 complaints about online crime. But, where did Texas rank individually?
KHOU revealed that the state of Texas was placed second in the rankings. 62,340 reports were documented, and a massive amount of money, $1.35 billion was stolen. Even more concerning was the number of issues revealed for people over the age of 60 in the state, with 9,470 reports resulting in $490 million gone, which was part of the previously mentioned overall gross.
Special Agent in Charge of FBI Houston, Douglas Williams, said the following advice for those in the state, as revealed by KHOU: "To a scammer, you're not a person — you're a paycheck....If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't." Stay safe and smart Texas!
