As it finally begins to warm up here in Texas, Texans are preparing for summer days, amazing barbecues, lake trips, and family vacations. After the winter Texas had this year, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all ready for a little fun in the sun. Mosquitoes are known to have over 3,000 different species. They are not only one of the most dangerous creatures in the world, but they also find their way to Texas every year. Even though mosquitoes are considered a significant source of vital mass in the food chain, feeding animals and reptiles such as birds, fish, bats, and even spiders, these little guys are extremely deadly. Mosquitoes can transfer various diseases, which have been found here in Texas, such as the Zika virus, West Nile virus, and even malaria.

Texans are advised to properly prepare for the invasion of the most dangerous pest in the world this year. Stock up on bug repellent, do not leave buckets of water outside (as mosquitoes like to breed in standing water), and most importantly, if you see a mosquito, kill it on sight. Texans want this summer to be fun in the sun, not "fun and then done," so please stay safe and alert.
