Sad news in the community: The police department has identified the victim of an overnight shooting as Gabriel Lee Garza. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of May 28, and sadly, Garza lost his life as a result, according to KWTX.

Searching for answers after a teenager was fatally shot in Killeen overnight

At approximately 1:45 AM, officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Cantabrian Drive, in the southwest area of the city of Killeen, to investigate a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found Gabriel Lee Garza suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders immediately began life-saving measures and transported him by ambulance to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. Unfortunately, Garza later succumbed to his injuries.

Justice of the Peace Nicola James pronounced Garza deceased at 6:29 AM and ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. According to police, Garza was reportedly outside his residence with two to three other men when multiple shots were fired. He was struck several times. Investigators believe it is possible that the victim and the suspect knew each other. The Robbery-Homicide Unit is now investigating the case as a murder.
