Downtown Killeen Officially Unveils Its Texas Main Street Designation Sign

Downtown Killeen found itself with a makeover over the weekend as September 18 marked the city’s designation as an official Texas Main Street community. This serves as a reminder of the work underway to continuously build Killeen’s downtown district into something beautiful. I’ve said this more than once: Downtown Killeen is truly getting a serious makeover, and the glow-up is so lovely to watch. Mayor Joseph Solomon stated that downtown has a story worth celebrating, and this designation is a dedication to preserving that story while creating new opportunities for the future.

Killeen Residents Celebrate New Historic Designation Downtown

The mayor went on to say that these accomplishments did not happen because of one person, one organization, or one department. They happened because people across the community came together. The city and its divisions, downtown business and property owners, community organizations, residents, and so many others have given their time, support, and knowledge to help make this possible.

Why Killeen’s New Main Street Sign Is a Game-Changer for the City

I absolutely agree with that. You can tell that Downtown Killeen was and still is something special that has been deeply rooted in the community for a long time. It’s very personal for many residents, myself included. As a first-generation native of Killeen, seeing the growth happening downtown is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for Downtown Killeen. The transformation is exciting to watch, and I’m looking forward to seeing this next chapter unfold.
