Ted Cruz Now Has Beef with Big Bird For Being Vaccinated
If you need a laugh, then look no further because Ted Cruz has named his latest enemy.
Who Is Big Bird?
Big Bird is a fictional character that was created by Jim Henson for the children's show Sesame Street. The 8'2" yellow bird first appeared in 1969, but the character remains 6 years old as time passes. Forever young, and forever friendly - that's Big Bird.
Big Bird Gets Vaccinated
Now that children ages 5 years and older are able to get an age-appropriate dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, Big Bird decided to protect himself and others, and to encourage others to do so as well.
Big Bird VS Ted Cruz
Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz recently discovered that Big Bird was vaccinated and took to social media to air his grievances against the muppet.
At this point, I would like to remind everyone that this, in fact, is a true story.
Big Bird Has a History of Supporting Vaccination
This isn't even the first time Big Bird has encouraged kids be inoculated. In the wake of Cruz once again humiliating himself on the internet, video from 1972 has resurfaced in which Big Bird is seen using his platform to encourage families to get their kids vaccinated.
One wonders if a then 2-year-old Cruz threw a tantrum when he saw this.
Big Bird's Acclimates
In case you weren't aware, Big Bird was actually dubbed a "Living Legend" by the United States Library of Congress in the year 2000. Librarian of Congress James Billington stated:
"Selected by the Library's curators and subject specialists, those honored include artists, writers, activists, film makers, physicians, entertainers, sports figures, and public servants. Each in his or her own way has advanced and embodied the quintessentially American ideal of individual creativity, conviction, dedication, and exuberance. Their professional accomplishments and sense of commitment have enabled them to provide examples of personal excellence that have benefited others and enriched our nation in a variety of ways."
Big Bird also has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and is one of only two muppets to have received the honor.
Beloved Mentor or Public Enemy?
Personally, I think Big Bird is a wonderful mentor and has contributed positive lessons to our society for decades. Ted Cruz, however, seems to believe that Big Bird is now a public enemy.
