Talk About It Tuesday: State Fair Classic and Coming 2 America

Happy Tuesday, my Kiss 103.1 family! Let's talk about it.

This past week was busy fun, with 3 giveaways and more to come. We've still got State Fair Classic tickets up for grabs, so enter the password "TUESDAY" here for a chance to win yours. The game itself is always entertaining, but it's the halftime artist that has us excited -  legendary R&B group Dru Hill!

Tomorrow (March 10), Texas' statewide mask mandate will be lifted, and restaurants and bars will operate at 100% occupancy if they choose to. Testerday, workers protested Governor Abbott's order to lift the mandate. This weekend is going to interesting seeing some restaurants and bars try to encourage patrons to wear a mask in their establishments. HEB is encouraging shoppers to wear them, as are several other businesses.

The House of Representatives is poised to pass President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief plan that will issue out $1,400 stimulus checks, billions for vaccines, and money to reopen schools. We've got more information on that here, along with tools to help you determine if you're eligible for the latest round of checks and what you can expect to receive.

I didn't receive the first stimulus check, and I don't think I will get the second one, but what are your plans when you receive yours?

We debuted the new single by Silksonic, which includes Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars, called "Leave the Door Open". It has an old-school R&B feel to it, like it could definitely have come out in the '70s. Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think. The highly anticipated sequel to Coming to America, titled Coming 2 America, premiered this past weekend. On social media, you had people that liked it and some that didn't. I liked it, and I knew coming in that the sequel would not be as great as the first film that came out 30 years ago.

It had some great cameos, and I was happy they brought so many of the characters from the original back for this long-awaited sequel. I don't know if the new movie will hold up as well as the original, but I will probably watch it repeatedly like the original film.
