No More Weekends: SXSW Shortens Festival, Launches All-In-One, Seven-Day Schedule

Every year, musicians from all over the world, actors, actresses, and aspiring individuals hoping to break into the entertainment industry come to Austin, Texas, to enjoy a week-long festival like no other. Whether you're an up-and-comer trying to make it big or you just love great music and want to experience it up close, SXSW is the place to be.

The New SXSW: Film, Music, and Tech Collide Simultaneously for the Ultimate Austin Experience

Now approaching its 40th year, the festival is preparing for some exciting changes, according to KUT News. Brian Hobbs, Vice President of South by Southwest, shared that they’ll be using a wide range of hotel spaces throughout downtown. In addition, the festival will now run from March 12 to March 18, and all daytime activities will be relocated to the Austin Convention Center.

"The badge systems, the scheduling, the Music Clubhouse—there’s a lot that will be different this year, and I personally can’t wait," Hobbs said.

He also mentioned a key update: "We're actually gaining a day," referring to the music portion of the festival. Hobbs added, "I think this is something that should have been done a long time ago—but better late than never. I think bands are going to get more out of the SXSW experience, whether they're one or a thousand, instead of two or 2,200." This year's SXSW looks promising !
