Every year all of Austin gets super excited about SXSW, which is a music festival at which artists from all over the world come out and showcase their talent, network, and perform. It's also a way to showcase Austin and show the world what a fabulous city it can be. Unfortunately, it seems like there's always somebody who has to ruin the fun and Texas reputation by doing something absolutely stupid. This year was no different.

SHOOTING IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

KXAN-TV, ABC News, and CBS Austin report that four people were injured in a shooting no 6th Street around 2 AM Sunday.

The injured people are expected to recover, and the Austin Police Department told media they have a suspect in custody. They did not release the suspect's name or a possible motive, but have said that the shooting was not random. Shots were fired after reports of a disturbance in the area.

What’s extra sad about this is that the shooting took place literally in the same spot where a  deadly shooting happened in 2021. The suspect in that case is from Killeen, and the shooting resulted in 14 injuries and one death.

PRAYERS FOR THE VICTIMS

Sadly, 6th Street has developed a reputation for violence in recent years, and we've almost come to expect more reports of violence when SXSW time comes around. For now, all we can do is pray for the victims to have a speedy recover and be thankful that no one was killed.

I was there in 2021 when the deadly shooting happened, and I wouldn't wish that fear and chaos on anyone.

Once we receive more details about the situation from this weekend, we'll bring you those updates. For now, stay safe out there, Texas.
