If one wants to spread ashes in the state of Texas, finding out if it's legal is the top priority. So, the first question becomes can you actually do it in Texas? The answer is yes, but there is a restriction for certain areas.
If you wish to spread ashes in a public place in the Lone Star State, that is allowed. But, if you want to spread them in a private area, you must have permission to do so. As always, there are people who aren't fond of the tradition.

Where Do Texans Wish To Spread Their Loved One's Ashes?
To find out the answer, CW33 reports that Choice Mutual asked 3,016 people a simple question: "If you could have your ashes scattered at any monument tied to the country’s founding, where would it be?" The answers were multiple, but there were three main ones from Texas.
The top choice was none other than of course, The Alamo in San Antonio. Coming in second was Washington-on-the-Brazos, and third was San Jacinto Battlefield & Monument. So, if you're looking to spread ashes of loved ones, these places may be a bit crowded.
