Riakos Adams To Fill Killeen, Texas District 2 City Council Seat

Last week we informed you Debbie Nash King was sworn in as Mayor of The City Of Killeen, as she took over for former mayor Jose Segarra who resigned to run for a city council seat.

Yesterday a press release sent out by the Killeen City Council announced the appointment of Riakos Adams to fill the open District 2 City Council seat during Tuesday's Special City Council meeting.

Adams is replacing former District 2 councilmember, Debbie Nash-King, who was sworn in as mayor on March 25th.

As stipulated in the city Of Killeen Charter, Segarra who reached his three-term limit had to resign from his role as mayor in order to seek election as a councilmember.

When the District 2 seat became vacant, the Killeen City Council took applications for the seat between March 4th through March 18, 2022.

Reportedly, other applications were received in addition to Adams, from William Baumgartner, Monique Brand, and Kathryn Bradley.

Adams was also sworn in during Tuesday's city council special meeting.

To be eligible for the seat, applicants must be bona fide residents of District 2 in Killeen, Texas, be a U.S. citizen, be at least 18 years old, and have not been convicted of a felony.

They also must also have continuously lived in Texas for the previous 12 months, in District 2 for the previous six months, and be a registered voter at the time of appointment.

In the 1950s through the 1970s, Cabaret 7 was known as a country-western bar for people in the Killeen- Fort Hood area.

For a number of years in the 1980s and 1990s, Cabaret 7 was a very popular place to hang out and shoot pool, which is now known as Cab 7.

She says over the years the club has gone "forgotten" here in Killeen.
