
How Major League Soccer Is Helping Inspire A Cleaner Austin
The city of Austin, Texas is this year's host of the 2025 MLS All-Star game. Many events are being held leading up to the game being played on July 23rd, 2025. One of those moments was none other than a community cleanup that city could always use.
When Did The Clean Up Happen In Austin?
According to KXAN, on Saturday July 19th, 2025, many people congregated at Lady Bird Lake to assist making the area more beautiful. All together, 300 people helped tidy up the area, which totaled 5.2 million square feet. Keeping Austin Beautiful, The Trail Conservancy, and TreeFolks were crucial, per KXAN, in making this happen.
Trennis Jones, Vice President of Community Impact for Austin FC, said of the cleanup:
All of us require individual action as part of a collective action. There were lots of people...cleanups don’t stop when All-Star does, and so we look forward to having people out for that too.”

What Else Was Cleaned Up Around Austin By The Volunteers?
A major point of the cleanup involved none other than trees. Specifically making sure that trees around previously mentioned area needing to be re-mulched. That was no issue for an Austin resident named Robert Allen.
Allen told KXAN:
“It’s a beautiful thing, man. I’m an original Austinite...Having MLS come out here and just celebrate the city. Trees and nature is a big part of Austin...hopefully we get to do this again.”
So, hopefully, not only will this benefit the city of Austin, it will encourage other to keep the area around Lady Bird Lake nice and clean.
