What to Expect at Austin’s 43rd Viva la Vida Festival & Parade
The event honors the holiday's traditions and invites everyone to come out and participate. The event will feature grand processions, art activities at Mariposa Plaza, food vendors serving traditional foods, artists and artisans, the Mercado, Austin’s Lowrider exhibit, live music, and performances.
What Is Día De Los Muertos?
The event celebrates Día de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead, a vibrant Mexican holiday traditionally observed from October 31 through November 2. Instead of focusing on grief and sadness over the deaths of loved ones, Día de los Muertos is a joyful reunion in which living family members honor, remember, and welcome the spirits of their departed loved ones. Celebrating these rich cultural traditions is truly an amazing experience and provides an opportunity for the community to come together, honor loved ones, and learn more about the significance of Día de los Muertos.
