Austin’s Latest Global Move Could Bring a Massive Boost to Local Musicians
The City of Austin has always been known for “keeping it weird,” but when I think about the city, I also think about the incredible opportunities it provides for great music to be showcased through events such as South by Southwest, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and many other festivals held throughout the city.

Austin Is Making a Major Move to Secure Its Place on the World Stage
Recently, the Austin Communications and Public Information Office released a statement announcing that Austin Arts, Music & Entertainment, and Culture will be sending three Austin bands to the United Kingdom during the first week of June to participate in the second annual SXSW London and regional tour. This is a very big deal for Texas music because, keep in mind, this is now international, and it’s all about getting the music out there.
Why the World Is Watching Austin’s Legendary Music Scene Right Now
Angela Means, director of Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment, stated that Austin’s creative economy is one of the city’s strongest economic development assets, driving tourism, small-business growth, international visibility, and cultural exchange. Means went on to say that through the Austin Music Trade Alliance and its international partnerships, the city is creating opportunities for Austin artists and music businesses while strengthening Austin’s global reputation as a city where creativity, culture, and innovation fuel economic growth.
Make Austin Musical and Not Just Weird
Means also stated that Austin has always had a reputation as a global music destination, which I couldn’t agree with more. Through these international alliances, activities like this are becoming more important than ever. Alliance promotional campaigns will remind the world that Austin remains an ideal tourism and business-travel destination, whether visitors are attending events like South by Southwest or enjoying world-class music experiences year-round. Austin is not just keeping it weird; it’s keeping it international and musical.
