An Alabama man is in jail after stealing a lottery ticket dispenser, than returning to the store he stole it from to cash a winning ticket.

41-year-old Richard D. Morgan of Slocomb, Ala. has been charged with burglary, dealing in stolen property, resisting arrest, and violence with battery on a law enforcement officer after confessing to the boneheaded crime Tuesday.

The Panama City News Herald reports that Morgan broke into Big Daddy Liquor in Esto, Florida around 1 AM. Tuesday and made off with a machine stocked with lotto tickets valued at over $7,000. At 9:30 AM the same day, Morgan returned to the store and attempted to cash one of the tickets. Instead of a fat stack of Benjamins, Morgan got a new pair of bracelets from officers after a clerk alerted them to the dumb move.

Morgan was arrested and charged, and officers recovered the stolen tickets from his home across the state border.
