Local bars and breweries have come together to establish a GoFundMe account to help them try and survive while keeping their businesses afloat during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

News 10 reports that the "Waco Craft & Brewery Rescue" account was created to help Bare Arms Brewing, Barnett’s Public House, Brotherwell Brewing, Dancing Bear Pub, Truelove Bar, Southern Roots Brewing and Waco Ale Company

The fund had raised just under $2,000 of its $75,000 goal by mid-afternoon Friday. As of this article's publication, it had reached $4,533.

Organizer William Steakley wrote ,“With our establishments shut down (and no end in sight), many businesses are facing challenges that we had never foreseen.”

These businesses feel like they are being treated unfairly because other businesses that make the majority of their money from food are allowed to remain open.

The group says you can help out by ordering craft products that are made locally.  They're also encouraging people to contact elect officials about restrictions placed on bars and breweries.

Bill Flores, U.S. Representative for McLennon County (TX 17): (254) 732-0748

John Carter, U.S. Representative for Bell County (TX 31): (202) 225-3864

Senator John Cornyn: (202) 224-2934:

Senator Ted Cruz: (202) 224-5922

I can see where these businesses are coming from.  Other establishments are allowed to be open and serve drinks with food.  If breweries and bars require masks and social distancing, I don't see why they aren't allowed to be open.
