Knock Knock, “Who’s There?”, The Census Bureau
If you haven't done your Census 2020 yet, you should expect a Census worker to be knocking on your door.
Census workers are making the rounds knocking on doors and collecting information in Waco and McLennan County.
According to KXXV Channel 25, the McLennan County response rate is at 58.5%. Because of that, Census Bureau representatives will be knocking on doors of the remaining addresses to collect the information in person.
Don't want a visit from the bureau? There's still time to mail in the questionnaire you received in the mail, or you can fill it out online at 2020census.gov. You can even submit a census by phone at 844-330-2020.
All Census reps will be taking the necessary precautions to maintain the social distancing guidelines set up by the Centers for Disease Control
· Wearing face masks
· Maintaining social distance of 6 feet or more
· Practicing hand hygiene
· Not entering homes, and conducting interviews outside as much as possible or practical
Census reps will have a government ID badge for identification. That badge will have a picture of the rep, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, plus a expiration date on the badge. They'll also leave a notice of the visit in the event that no one is home when they stop by. That notice will detail how to respond by phone, mail, or online.
In the case that you'd like to confirm the identity of the rep, you can call the Denver/Dallas Regional Census Center at 972-510-1800 to speak with a Census Bureau representative.
The Census is important for a lot of reasons, including determining congressional representation and determining where federal funding will go when it's needed. Be sure to fill yours out or talk with the Census reps when they stop by. Read more about how the Census affects you here or check out the videos below.
