UPDATE: Killeen police say a suspect is in custody after a 9-year-old girl was shot during a domestic dispute earlier this week.

Records show 45-year-old Michael Mainet Alice was booked into the Bell County Jail at 10:28 PM Thursday, September 8, and he remained in custody Friday afternoon. He was charged with two counts of second degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one third degree felony charge of tampering with or fabricating evidence to impair an investigation. His bond was set at $300,000.

According to police, Alice was involved in a domestic dispute with the child's mother at a residents in the 5700 block of Chuckwagon Circle on Tuesday, September 6 when he drew a handgun and fired it at a nearby wall. A child sleeping in a room through the wall was struck in the foot and had to be hospitalized.

Alice was arrested shortly after police responded to the shooting and was in the Killeen City Jail until he was transferred to the Bell County Jail.

Killeen, Texas Police are currently working to determined what caused the shooting of an unidentified female and child in the 5700 block of Chuckwagon Circle.

According to a press release from the Killeen Police Department, at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, officers were sent to Harker Heights Seton Hospital. At the time of writing, the unidentified female juvenile at the hospital was suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot.

The unidentified child was taken to McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple for further treatment. During their initial investigation, law enforcement discovered that the mother of the child and the suspect, Michael Mainet Alice, had previously been in an altercation.

Alice reportedly showed a weapon during the incident, and discharged the weapon into the wall, hitting a child in the room adjacent to the wall. After discovering this information, law enforcement went to the previously mentioned residence and took 45-year-old Michael Mainet Alice into custody.

He is currently in Killeen City Jail awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.
