Killeen Murder Suspect Arrested in Mississippi

Killeen police say a man wanted for the shooting deaths of three people back in March has been apprehended in Mississippi.

21-year-old Barnard Lnell Morrow was found hiding out in Newton, MS, and was arrested by members of the US Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force around 6 AM Thursday, August 28. He was taken to the Lauderdale County Jail to await extradition back to Texas.

Around 1 AM on March 14, 2020, police were called to the the Summerlyn Apartments located at 4101 E. Rancier Avenue in reference to shots fired call.

Officers were unable to determine the source of the shots, but around 1:40 AM they received a report of water leaking from one apartment to another. The source of the leak was determined to be an unlocked apartment, inside of which three victims were found fatally shot:

Asia Cline, 22

Shaquan Markell Allred, 23

Freddy Beningo Delacruz Jr., 23

On August 20, detectives with the Killeen Police Department identified Morrow as a suspect and presented their case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. The DA's office returned a complaint charging Morrow with capital murder of multiple people.

Having reason to believe he was in Newton, MS, detectives called on the help of federal marshals. Morrow was reportedly arrested without incident.

“The department wishes to express its condolences to the family and friends of the victims of this tragedy,"  Killeen Police Chief Charles Kimble said Friday. "I wish to thank our officers and detectives for their dedicated service in reaching a conclusion in this investigation."

Nothing can bring those three people back, but hopefully their loved ones will have answers and justice soon.
