Killeen Father and Son Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide
Sadly, the Killeen Police Department is now investigating the 16th murder in the city this year after a murder-suicide case involving a father and son.
KILLEEN ARGUMENT ENDED IN TRAGEDY
Our partners at KWTX-TV News 10 identified the victims as 47-year-old James Matthew Moten and his 18-year-old son, Javeon Rondre Moten.
News 10 reports that Killeen police were called to the 400 block of Sladecek Drive shortly after 2 PM Tuesday, November 9. When they arrived at the scene, they learned that James and Javeon had an argument, during which Javeon fatally stabbed James.
Investigators found the teen suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:46 PM Tuesday.
Both men are scheduled to undergo autopsies in Dallas.
STAYING KILLEEN STRONG!
It truly is unfortunate that things like this continue to happen in Central Texas. I can only suggest that not only do we stay close to our loved ones, but we do a better job of controlling our emotions and stress. Our family should always be in our corners and have our back, and we've got to communicate with each other in healthy ways and make sure our families are networks of love and support.
If you're having an argument and it's getting heated, think about just walking away for a bit to clear your head and think things through. It's never worth hurting or even killing someone, especially your own blood.
Let's do better and be Killeen strong!
