Remembering September 11th With Killeen, TX Freedom Walk This Friday
Killeen, Texas, I have school spirit! How about you? The Killeen Independent School District will be hosting its annual community Freedom Walk tomorrow (Friday, September 9) at Ellison high school beginning at 9:30 AM in the auditorium.
MAKE SURE TO SHOW YOUR RESPECT FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED IN 9/11
This event will continue at the Ellison stadium. Additionally, there are usually other Killeen ISD schools that decide to hold smaller events also on Monday. This Freedom Walk is very important to all of the school districts and all of the Central Texas community. It serves not only to remind everyone of the tragedy we all suffered on 9/11, but to celebrate the first responders who ran toward the danger to help save lives - many, at the cost of their own. We also honor those who've fought and sacrificed for our nation.
NEVER FORGET 9/11
This year's event is about telling a story, KISD says. "Everyone living that day has a story", said KISD community relations director Angenet Wilkerson. "As we continue this journey we want to give others an opportunity to tell their story".
This event will also include a video presentation with remarks from leaders, as well as participation from high school students.
It's all to honor those who fell on that tragic day, and those who risked everything to save lives and help ensure that nothing like the World Trade Center attacks ever happens again on our soil.
