Killeen Honors a Local Legacy with the Rededication of Theresa’s Book Nook

Theresa’s Book Nook Officially Rededicated in Killeen’s Lions Club Park
On May 13, the city showed its appreciation for her by holding a rededication ceremony at Lions Park following improvements made to preserve the structure for years to come. The Teresa Book Nook was originally placed there in her memory to encourage children and families to share books and celebrate the joy of reading not only with their families, but with the community as a whole.
A Change Had To Be Made To Killeen's Favorite Book Nook
However, after years of exposure to the elements, a community resident contacted Killeen Parks and Recreation, noting that the structure was beginning to deteriorate and that some of the books inside were being damaged by weather. Killeen Parks and Recreation quickly partnered with the Killeen Public Library to ensure that the nook was replaced with a sturdier version while still preserving the original purpose and message behind the Book Nook.
Impacting The Next Generation Of Readers
Theresa Campbell’s family, Killeen Public Library staff, and Killeen Parks and Recreation staff all attended the ceremony to recognize this wonderful individual and the impact she made on the community, not just for residents today, but for generations of young readers to come.
