Heartbreaking news from the world of entertainment as a journalist and writer on the hit NBC TV drama series "This Is Us" has passed away.

According to Variety, Jas Waters, a TV writer with multiple show credits to her name passed away at 39. Her cause of death is being reported as a suicide by E! News.


Waters ran a successful entertainment blog, FlyStyleLife.com, for three years and had her own pop culture column in VIBE magazine before becoming a screen writer with writing credits on 18 episodes of “This Is Us”, Comedy Central’s “Hood Adjacent With James Davis,” VH1’s “The Breaks” and Showtime’s “Kidding.”

She also worked on movies such as the 2 "Barbershop" films, and Taraji P. Henson’s “What Men Want.” among other credits. Waters also collaborated on music videos with Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, Bow Wow, Jagged Edge and Common and starred in the VH1 reality show Gossip Game, which followed the lives of women in hip-hop media.
