Home Defense: Woman Shoots Intruder In A Remarkable Way
A 35-year-old man identified as Octavio Flores Mondragon was shot while entering a Texas woman's home.
Mondragon was reportedly trying to force his way into an unidentified Texas woman's home when she shot him 3 times. The police were called to the woman's house around 7:54pm on a Friday evening. The woman said there was an unknown man, armed with a pistol, in her backyard. She was heard screaming that the man was trying to break into her house while she was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher. Neighbors also called police to report that they had heard gun shots during this same timeframe.
It didn't take the police long to respond to the call. They approached the woman outside of her home within three minutes of the call. When they got to her, she told them that she shot the man somewhere at the back of the house.
In the garage, Octavio Flores Mondragon, was found lying next to a pistol with one bullet wound to the chest and another to his face. Surprisingly, Mondragon was not fatally wounded, so he was taken to the hospital. He was reportedly in critical condition.
According to the woman, that evening she was followed home after leaving a fast-food restaurant by someone in a dark truck. When she arrived at her home the truck pulled into the driveway blocking her car. She then ran inside and called 911 while she retrieved her pistol. She shot at him multiple times and hit him twice as he attempted to force his way into her home.
The woman has not been charged with a crime. Meanwhile, Mondragon faces charges or burglary with intent to commit another felony.
