Once the authorities arrived at the one-story duplex, there was heavy smoke in the residential home in front of the occupancy. There were search operations and fire attacks initiated as soon as possible and all human beings who were in the duplex were out of the home and injured.

This family had an animal that was treated for smoke inhalation on scene and was immediately released back to the family in good health. The city of Heights said that the fire was confined to the one unit of origin and extinguished without extension into the adjoining occupancy.
