Texas has long been recognized as a red state in the context of voting. However, according to Newsweek, Vice President Kamala Harris has the potential to create a more competitive political landscape, putting the state in a position of contention between red and blue. The status of Texas is not what you would consider a swing state, especially after 11 elections there were Republican candidates including President Trump in 2016 and even our president now Joe Biden.

Now Texas is known for all our history for backing Republicans regarding senate, governor, and presidential races, but there could be a switch in the voter dynamic very soon. In 2020 President Joseph Biden closed the presidential gap and the former Democrat representative Beto O'Rourke barely lost to Republican Ted Cruz in the 2018 Senate race. Even though Texans did not forget the illegal border crossing at the southern border in January 2021 experts believe if Harris wants to improve the vote shares in Texas she will need to notify the border issues says a professor of American politics at the University of North Texas. The professor suggests that he thinks Harris’s campaign has an effective strategy for promoting the immigration bill that Trump derailed earlier this year, using it as a foundation for her immigration policy.

"Instead of trying to set up a tax related to the border over the past three years, she can go on the offense and give the voters a blueprint, a specifics that, she supports, and thinks will solve the problem and from there, she will need to let the voters decide." Times are changing, but I believe integrity in Texas is still very much here. When Texans place their votes, the right decision will be made.
