Many families throw a party or barbecue for a graduating teen, but Leanne Carrasco decided to donate that special time to help her community.

Carrasco is a member of the Waltrip High School class of 2019. On Sunday, she and her family made 90 pizzas for around 200 residents of the Star of Hope Women and Family Development Center, hosting a pizza party in honor of people working through difficult times.

“I just want to be a blessing and show these beautiful women and children that no matter what, someone does care,” she told KPRC-TV. KPRC also reports that Carrasco and her family also made 400 personal hygiene bags for residents.

In the age of the 24-hour news cycle and heightened cynicism and political divides, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking today's youth are entirely selfish and hopeless, but we've seen too many stories similar to this one to lose faith. People are out there doing good every day - even on their own big days.
