Harker Heights Police Chief Disputes Police Brutality Allegations
The Harker Heights Police Department held a press conference on Tuesday disputing allegations of police brutality that went viral on social media this past week.
According to Central Texas News Now KXXV, HHPD Chief Mike Gentry presented Leah Dure's arrest affidavit and presented police dash cam video of Dure's arrest and Chief Gentry claims that Dure injuries were received were from a violent domestic dispute between Dure, her boyfriend and her boyfriend's wife that happened on Jan. 1.
The attorney for Leah Dure, Lee Merritt said that he will no longer pursue the case citing the absence of circumstantial evidence that a violent attack occurred coupled with significant evidence that his client suffered serious injury to her face prior to her arrest.
