A Matter of Seconds': How Harker Heights FD Prevented a Tragedy

Not all superheroes wear capes — some are amazing firefighters! According to KCENT, a woman was rescued from a burning home over the weekend by Harker Heights firefighters, as confirmed by the City of Harker Heights. The fire department was dispatched to a residence on W. Bob White Lane around 12:27 p.m. after reports indicated that someone might still be inside the house.

Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames pouring from the roof. Without hesitation, they initiated a search and rescue operation. According to city officials, the woman was found unconscious inside the home. Firefighters successfully rescued her and immediately began performing CPR. She was then transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Unfortunately, four firefighters sustained minor injuries during the incident, and one police officer was treated for smoke inhalation. All are expected to recover. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
