Social Media Worries Some About False Serial Killers In The State Of Texas
One's safety in the state of Texas is very important. Recently, a post to Facebook has brought many eyes upon it, as it stated there were dangerous individuals free in the state. But was it actually true, or simply a hoax?
What Was The Post In Question?
The warning made an Facebook appearance on the date of January 27th, 2025. According to the description:
"A dangerous couple Husband serial Killer Ryan Edward (41) and the woman Alice Chapman(32), a House Burglar are on the run after killing 3 female police officers on Saturday here in #Burlington"
Further details encouraged those in the area of Burlington to keep an eye out and that:
"They go around preying on elderly people, vandalizing parked vehicles, knocking on peoples' doors claiming to be homeless ,seeking for help & then attacking you after gaining your trust. They're ruthless and very dangerous"

But there was one major issue with the post itself. Neither the people photographed were in the area and the details were not real. It was all one big lie.
What Was The Evidence That Proved The Post Was Not Real?
To find out why the post is indeed not real and shouldn't worry anybody, we turn to the Austin American-Statesman. One of the main problems with the post is that the photos in question are reused. The people in the photo are named Christopher Russell and Joanne Dennehy.
Both of the individuals in the photos have committed crimes, but not in Texas. Per Ricardo Guzman, a San Antonio police officer simply stated:
“Our Southwest Texas Fusion center has deemed this post a hoax/scam...It has been circulating in various counties and states with different information in each post. However, the information is false.”
So, it's important to be safe and smart in Texas. Especially with fake stories like this!
