Antonio Basco lost his wife in August 3rd's mass shooting at an El Paso shopping center. Last week, the man planning Margie's funeral invited El Paso citizens and survivors to join Basco as he mourned his wife and celebrated her life.

Basco feared he'd be standing there alone, but hundreds flocked to Saturday's memorial service, and so many flowers arrived that funeral arrangers had to change venues.

It's a beautiful story that cannot be marred by what happened next, especially after someone stepped up to make it right.

The same day Margie was laid to rest, thieves stole Basco's SUV from his home. It was found the next day with part of the roof caved in, the windshield cracked, and the front and rear ends banged up.

It's heartbreaking to think of a man enduring so much pain and then finding out this happened, but the folks at Casa Ford in El Paso weren't about to let this stand. They'd serviced Basco's car before, and when they heard about what happened, they handed him the keys to a new vehicle Monday.

In the wake of unspeakable tragedy, people continue to come together to help and comfort a man who lost his entire world. I'm not ashamed to say it brings a tear to my eye.
