Texas Student With Disabilities Harmed By Teachers In School
Police in the state of Texas have stated that three Texas teachers are in jail following their actions towards a student with Down Syndrome. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
What Were The Teachers' Actions?
As reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the situation happened on March 12th, 2025 at Tyler High School. All information was revealed by police as well. The student, unidentified at the time of writing, was brought to a classroom used for life skills. Once inside the room, the young student was made to walk around in circles around their own personal desk.
This continued for nearly two hours, with the student talking to their teacher Krystina Renea Haas. But shortly after those two hours, Haas without warning, began to yell at the student for seemingly no reason. Haas did not use language safe for the child.
Haas, after yelling at the child, then directed June Tryon, a teaching assistant, to "get the tape" as stated by police.

What Happened With The Tape And What The Teacher And Assistants Do?
Police reveal that the tape was used to restrict the student's hands. Documents from court report that the student couldn't have usage of their hands while walking around their desk. Another assistant, Prisicilla Gutierrez helped Tryon in putting the tape on the student's hands.
Following the student walking around their desk for almost two and a half hours, they were then made to place their still taped hands on a wall in the corner of the room, This also lasted until the student was allowed to leave the room and get on the bus. Overall, the student stood at the wall for an hour and 45 minutes.
When the student got home and told their grandmother, the grandmother quickly alerted the school to the situation. Haas defended their actions to police, but it still resulted in arrests of Haas, Gutierrez, and Tryon.
All three were taken into custody, placed in jail, and face a charge of injury to a child, elderly individual or disabled individual. As this is a developing story, we will have more information if it is reported.
