In what will more than likely be the recurring theme this summer and into the fall: Plan an event, wait for more info on the pandemic, then cancel.

We received word from Copperas Cove Public Information Officer Kevin Keller that the 2nd Annual Copperas Cove Kite Festival which was slated for July 18th at Ogletree Gap has now been canceled.

As a result of Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-29, and subsequent amendment of Executive Order GA-28, the 2nd Annual Kite Festival is unfortunately being canceled this year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will look forward to hosting this event once again next year. - Kevin Keller Copperas Cove PIO

We are truly hoping that no more events that are upcoming get canceled, but let's get real, we will see more cancellations because the numbers on COVID-19 keep going up.

So get ready for a long, hot and boring summer....and fall.
