Bruceville-Eddy, Texas Vineyard Owner Stands Trial For Role In Jan. 6 Capitol Riot – Says He’s Sorry

One of Central Texas' own, Christopher Grider, is sticking to his story that he wasn’t trying to harm anyone or the republic with his involvement last year during the US Capitol insurrection fiasco. He says he was "swept up" by fellow Trump supporters.

COME ON NOW, CHRISTOPHER

Well, the time has come. He stood trial today in Washington, DC. Christopher, 40, who owns the Kissing Tree Vineyards in Eddy, Texas is being charged with three felonies and six misdemeanor counts for his participation in the January 6, 2021 riot that took place after former President Trump‘s rally in the wake of his loss to current President Joe Biden.

THE 'WINE' PLEA

According to his attorney Brent Mayr, Christopher waived his right to a jury and has requested a bench trial. Mayr believes that

"[T]he judge can be fair and impartial...both judges and juries are finally recognizing that federal prosecutors are overcharging defendants for their actions on January 6, and quitting them of some of those charges, we hope judge Kollar-Kotelly will do the same."

THIS IS SOME BIG D ENERGY

They better hope she does. That's some serious confidence that Mayr has, as his client faces a maximum federal prison sentence of 39 1/2 years. There’s no denying Grider was there on that wild day. Not only was he there, child, he was one of the first ones to arrive. He's seen in several images and videos that were obtained from Capitol security cameras, and HIS own phone, wearing his red "Make America Great Again" cap.

WAS IT WORTH IT?

In an interview with KWTX after the riot, Grider said that he and his friend went to Washington to show support for Trump.

"The president asked people to come and show their support," he said. "I feel like it’s the least that we can do. It's kind of why I came from Central Texas all the way to DC." Mayr says Grider is sorry for his actions.

“Chris absolutely regrets what he did that day and wants the judge to recognize that. At the same time, he wants the judge and everyone to recognize that he did not go there to stop the (election) certification proceedings.”

THOUGHTS?

Listen, with all this cancel culture, now folks are having participation remorse? Hey, I’m sure there are many serving time in jail right now for doing much less, wishing they could just apologize and have gotten some grace.
