It's been a long time coming, but he's finally back in his element. Chris Rock took a 9-year hiatus from his stand-up comedy touring in order to focus on other ventures of his career. In the past few years, not only did he release his box office hit movie, Top 5, but he even hosted the Academy Awards earlier this year.

Now, the veteran comedian is returning to the stages that have been waiting for him around the country, as he has announced his upcoming Total Blackout Tour slated for 2017. Rock took to Facebook Live to make the announcement to fans, which followed by tickets for particular dates already becoming available on Ticketmaster. The actor said in the live footage, "First time in nine years, OK? I've been a little busy, you know, writing Pootie Tang 3 and everything," he joked, "but it's time."

Not only will fans be able to see him hit the road next year, but those who can't make it to one of the shows will be able to still be able to see his routine, as he's set to film his stand-up special during the tour. This is Rock's first time doing a comedy tour since 2008, and his new special, which is one of two on the way, follows in the footsteps of comedian Dave Chappelle, who is also set to release a stand-up special with Netflix in the near future.
