How stressed out are you right now? There're a lot of reasons to be stressed, especially with the holidays coming up, and Texans aren't immune to it.

The good folks over at Zippa decided to see how stressed everyone is in America and ranked all 50 states on their stress levels based off 6 factors: long commute times, unemployment, population density, hours worked, home price to income ratio, and percentages of a state's population that's uninsured.

The higher any of these was, the more stressful the people of the state are. Our data is from the U.S. Census’ American Community Survey for 2012-2016. We ranked each state from 1 to 50 (with one being the most stressed side of the scale) in the six individual criteria. These ranks were then averaged into one stressed out score. The lower the score the more stressed out state in America. - Zippa

Texas landed as the 12th most stressed state, falling just short of the Top 10. We can confirm long commute times for sure, and we already found out earlier this year that Texas was in the Top 10 for "hardest working states",  so landing pretty close to the top 10 makes sense. The most stressed states are:

  1. New Jersey
  2. Georgia
  3. Florida
  4. California
  5. New York
  6. Louisiana
  7. Maryland
  8. North Carolina
  9. Virginia
  10. Mississippi
