Waco’s Baby Boom! Cameron Park Zoo Announces Exciting Orangutan Pregnancy Due in January
As Texans prepare for the new year, KXXV reports that Cameron Park Zoo is excited to announce that two orangutans are expecting babies due in January. The zoo shared a statement on social media saying:

The Next Generation: Meet the Future of Orangutan Conservation in Waco
“Peekaboo, we see you! Guess who’s expecting? Our beautiful orangutan Mei and proud dad KJ are thrilled to announce that they are expecting a baby this January! To celebrate, we’re throwing a baby shower for Mei on Saturday, December 13, from 10 AM to noon here at Cameron Park Zoo—and you’re invited! Mom and Dad are registered at Target. Check out their wish list and mark your calendars to join us for this special celebration as we get ready to welcome the zoo’s newest bundle of joy.”
Rare Arrival! This January Birth is a Huge Deal for Orangutan Populations
For my fellow animal lovers, this is especially exciting. Not to mention, you can get a glimpse of the expecting parents on Saturday, November 15, during Orangutan Caring Day, which will take place from 9 AM to 2 PM.
We can already tell that 2026 has a lot in store for us.
