Central Texas Food Bank Expands to Waco: What You Need to Know Today

This is not like any other food bank. This particular facility includes production kitchens, workforce development and training programs, a warehouse for rapid food distribution, and a future garden. The idea behind this food bank is to create an environment where people do not feel like they are walking into a warehouse simply packed with food. Instead, the Central Texas Food Bank wants to make the facility feel more like a grocery store and a welcoming place where people can feel comfortable.

Many times, when people find themselves in difficult situations and need assistance, they may feel embarrassed about asking for help. The Central Texas Food Bank is working to change that perspective by creating a more welcoming and dignified experience for the people it serves.

This new facility will also allow residents in nine northern counties within its 21-county service territory, including San Saba, Bell, Coryell, Falls, Limestone, Lampasas, Mills, and Leon counties, to have better access to food and other resources. Again, we are looking at a 64,000-square-foot facility that is designed to provide much more than food. It is intended to connect people with resources, training, and support while creating a more comfortable and welcoming experience for families and individuals in need.
