BEWARE: Texans Say This Is MOST Racist City In The State
Anyone who knows is aware that I take pride in my Southern roots, particularly in being from Texas. However, it can be frustrating when serious issues like racism are discussed, and many people seem to act as if they no longer exist. Discussing racism is always a difficult conversation, but the truth is that it is still prevalent today.
RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS
Unfortunately, having grown up in Texas, I have witnessed my fair share of it. While I regard Texas as a beautiful place to live, I cannot ignore its troubling history with racism. Ignoring the presence and dangers of racism here would be irresponsible. According to Fox 26 Houston, there have been numerous reports over the years highlighting how some areas in Texas, particularly sundown towns, have been places where Black travelers fear being caught after dark.
BEWARE OF SUNDOWN TOWNS IN TEXAS IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!
Sundown towns are predominantly white communities that effectively exclude non-white individuals, especially African Americans, from residing within their limits. These towns typically employ a mix of discriminatory laws, intimidation, violence, and economic exclusion to maintain segregation. Despite efforts to improve its reputation, Vidor Texas still poses risks for Black travelers. Racism stems from ignorance and hate, and it is a type of discrimination that elicits sympathy. I hope that one day, the city of Vidor Texas can overcome this reputation.
