Graffiti in the city of Belton, Texas has suddenly become an issue. With multiple instances of it happening, some in Belton have begun to wonder what can be done to stop it outright. When did this all begin?

How Did Worries About Graffiti Start In Belton?

Three weeks ago, KCEN reported a building in the city having a very specific phrase on it:

The phrase in question, "DENY. DEFEND. DEPOSE." is connected to the assassination of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Luigi Mangione was alleged to have the phrase on the bullets used to take Thompson's life. The phrase in question appeared next to a sign for Luke Potts, who is currently running for the city council of Belton.

Potts himself was not upset by the graffiti, rather that it was on very important building for Belton and the history of the city itself, according to KWTX:

“It just kind of made me sick that someone would be willing to do this to one of our historic buildings down here.”

Potts himself wasn't the only one concerned however.

Who Else In The City Of Belton Is Worried?

This isn't the only time this has happened, as graffiti like this has occurred three times in the past month for the city. Police in the city have noticed the situation, and said the following:

"The Belton Police Department is interested in speaking with anyone who has information about the graffiti and will work with the property owner to make sure whoever did it faces criminal charges.”

Potts also said about the unnamed, at the time of writing, suspect:

“I would say, you need to get off the internet and you need to go out into your community. I think if someone gets involved with their community, they’re going to respect their community and really understand what it means to be a good citizen.”

As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
