Bell County Solar Farm Expected to Start Construction in Fall 2022
You wouldn't know it from the weather lately, but if there's one thing Texas will never be short on, it's sunshine. It just makes sense that we try to make good use of it.
For example, Bell County residents could see better rates on electricity thanks to a new solar farm project that's expected to start construction in the Fall of 2022.
FOX44 News reports that residents met at the Expo Center on Wednesday evening to find out more about the Chillingham Solar Farm project. The question and answer session was hosted by 8minute Solar Energy.
8minute Solar Energy said the plan would benefit many Central Texans with low cost, clean electricity and would create about 350 well paying jobs during the construction.
Origination Vice President Kurtz Stowers told Fox the project involved an investment of up to $255 million and is expected to bring 350 construction jobs to our area.
The solar farm construction will take place near State Highway 53 and North of US Highway 190 and is expected to finish at the end of 2023.
According to energysage.com, some benefits of solar energy are low operating costs, no harmful emissions are released into the air, protects the environment by using renewable energy, protects against rising energy costs and is a great way to boost energy independence here in the U.S.
The sun is an endless source of energy and there is no threat of running out of its supply. Even on cloudy days, solar panels can collect energy. It's estimated that panels collect about 10-25% of the sun's normal energy even on cloudy days.
