KWTX attempted to contact Dotson through the Waco parole office and an uncle residing in North Carolina, but received no response. Dotson’s uncle, Alvin Dotson, stated that his nephew had no interest in accepting an interview request. Neither Alvin nor parole officials would provide further information about Carlton Dotson.

It remains to be seen how McLennan County will respond to his release. Nonetheless, the reality is that Dotson has served his time and is now a free man.
