"You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.” - Davy Crockett

Everyone's trying to get to Texas these days. We're THE boom state of the 21st century. A good indicator is U-Haul's annual list of Top Growth States, the most recent of which listed Texas #1 for the third year in a row.

Most of those people are headed to the Lone Star State for economic opportunities and the wide open spaces.

Others are headed here because it's the nearest convenient place to try to run from the cops.

That was the case late last week when three juvenile inmates from the Mansfield Juvenile Treatment Center in Sebastian County, Arkansas escaped and stole a car.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that the trio escaped Wednesday night. They were able to elude authorities in the ill-gotten vehicle before being stopped in Texarkana, Texas around 3 AM Friday.

Their names weren't released due to their young age, but authorities say they'll face felony charges.

I can't condone their breaking out of jail, but I also can't blame them for wanting to get to Texas as fast as possible.
