Check to Protect

In 2017, the National Safety Council founded the Check to Protect program to raise awareness for vehicle safety recalls. The purpose of the organization is to let drivers know that it is fast, free, and easy to check for airbag recalls and get them repaired. Recall repairs are always free at an authorized dealership, and it doesn't matter whether or not you're the registered owner of the affected vehicle.

Right now, Check to Protect is reporting that there are 50 million vehicles on the road with open recalls.

How to Check Your Vehicle for Recalls

Visit checktoprotect.org and enter your license plate number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The VIN is a 17-character ID that can be found on your driver's side dashboard, the driver's side door, and most vehicle registration or insurance documents. It only takes a minute to check for a recall to protect yourself and everyone you love by getting a dangerous airbag replaced immediately.
