Actress Jada Pinkett Smith Meets With Family Of Vanessa Guillen
This week, the Army took action by replacing Fort Hood's top commander and launching its own internal investigation into deaths on post including the murder of Spc. Vanessa Guillen. Now Guillen's family is receiving some support from another celebrity.
Actress Jada Pinkett Smith met with the family and attorney of the slain Fort Hood soldier whose shocking murder has sparked a national demand for protection of military service members.
The "Red Table Talk" star is seen with Vanessa's mother Gloria, her 2 sisters and their attorney Natalie Khawam.
Smith called on her followers to contact their congressional representatives to ask them to support the #IAmVanessaGuillen bill which the was drafted by Guillen's family attorney.
The bill would allow active duty service members to file sexual harassment and sexual assault claims to a third party agency instead of their line of command. Before her disappearance, Vanessa told family and friends she was being sexually harassed on post.
Khawam said an announcement on the bill's sponsors could come next week.
