YIKES! Salado Texas Senior Community has a Snake Problem

Time to call Samuel L Jackson. The Hidden Glen Senior Community in Salado, Texas is having a snake problem.

Our friends at KWTX report that some of the tenants at the facility are asking for help, saying that the management company in charge of the facility haven't mowed the grass there in months.

A SNAKE IN THE GRASS

Hidden Glen Senior Community is designed for low-income seniors citizens and sits just off I-35 in Salado. The property is currently managed by Fairway Management Inc, out of Missouri.

A group of 15 residents decided to get together recently to talk about the poor living conditions they've been dealing with, including backed up sewers and the overgrown grass that they believe is the reason for all the snakes they are seeing.

One resident told KWTX, “I take my dog out but I won’t take him far out. I just take him by my door.” Other residents say they have to walk around with canes to ward off any snakes they come across.

COMMUNITY OFFERS TO HELP

Several people in the Salado Community have offered to mow the property, but have been told no due to liability issues which leaves residents even more frustrated. Fairway Management Inc told KWTX that they are hoping to get a lawn-mowing contract signed soon.

VILLAGE VIOLATION

Turns out the overgrown grass is a violation of the Village of Salado's nuisance ordinance according to Salado City Manager Don Ferguson. Ferguson confirms that no citations have been issued, they have had complaints about the grass. Until the issue is resolved, residents will have to be on the look-out for snakes in the area.
