What About A Four Day School Week In Killeen, Texas? This Texas City Is Planning On It
Ever thought how smooth or horrible things would be if there were a 4 day school in Killeen and Temple? Well, one Texas city is about to find out.
Jasper ISD Adopting 4 Day School Week
According to KPRC, the school district for Jasper, Texas is planning on implementing a 4 day school week next school year.
A few weeks ago, the Jasper Independent School District announced that it would make a four-day model the norm for its upcoming school year.
The school announced on social media that the length of the school day was not extended, and the school calendar includes the required 75,600 minutes plus five bonus school days of student instructional time.
The Jasper ISD Got Community Input Before The Move
Two surveys were reportedly conducted before the vote was taken between teachers and the community.
84% of the teachers that were polled were in favor of the move.
The other survey that was emailed to parents and staff and posted on the school district's social media pages showed that 64% of people asked were in favor of the change.
Would Temple and Killeen Independent School Districts Be In Favor?
I asked Taina Maya, Chief Communications & Marketing Officer for Killeen's Independent School District what she thought. She hadn't replied at the time of this article's publication, but we'll bring you and update when we hear back.
I also reached out to Temple Independent School District Spokesperson Jon Wallin, and he said:
"I don’t have a comment because it is not something that has been considered in TISD"
