Texas might be in an uproar come March 30, depending on the courts. According to the New York Post, Yolanda Saldivar could be released from jail if she is granted parole after killing 23-year-old superstar Selena Quintanilla Pérez on March 31, 1995. Selena Quintanilla Pérez was a beautiful, talented star from Corpus Christi, Texas, known as the Queen of Tejano. Selena traveled all around the world with her family, performing hit songs like "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," and became incredibly popular throughout the state of Texas.

Yolanda was not only a superfan of Selena, like many of us, but she also became president of Selena Quintanilla Pérez’s fan club and the manager of her boutiques. However, she lost both positions once it was discovered that she had been embezzling money from both organizations. When Yolanda was confronted about the embezzlement, that is when she shot and killed the superstar.
Recently, it was reported that after 30 years behind bars, Yolanda Salvador could receive parole, as she was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

Yolanda Saldivar's Jail Release: A Cause for Concern in Texas Communities

Even though Yolanda may be excited about the prospect of freedom, there are many Texans who are not. You have to keep in mind that Selena was as big as Elvis in the Tejano world, and just as popular as Beyoncé once she crossed over to singing in English.
Recently, Texans were asked on social media for their thoughts about Yolanda Salvador possibly being released from jail, and the response was clear. The common sentiment was that if she were released, she likely wouldn’t survive her first day out. Selena was such an influential figure, and it was heartbreaking for the state of Texas to lose such a beautiful star. I am not one to take threats lightly, and this is something Yolanda and others in Texas should seriously consider.
