Warming Centers Will Be Opening Due To EXTREME Cold Weather In The City Of Killeen
The weather in Texas is set to change significantly shortly. Although Christmas has passed, snow and cold temperatures remain in the great state. The city of Killeen has announced that Friends in Crisis will be providing expanded overnight warming centers at their shelter located at 412 E. Sprout St.
RESIDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO STAY WARM DURING THE DRASTIC WEATHER CHANGE COMING
This service will be available for those in need from January 5 to January 10, with the warming center operating from 8 PM to 11 AM each day. Killeen's policy for opening the warming center is triggered when the temperature or wind chill drops below freezing (32°F). The National Weather Service has indicated this could happen, prompting the decision to open the centers.
WHERE CAN RESIDENTS GO TO STAY WARM IN THE CITY OF KILLEEN?
Residents should also remember that Killeen's public buildings, such as City Hall, recreation centers, police headquarters, and libraries, are always accessible for warming or cooling during normal business hours. Community members and visitors are encouraged to follow a code of conduct while using these facilities.
